3CX License Pricing
3CX License Pricing
3CX offers annual license subscriptions tailored to the specific needs of your business, determined by the number of simultaneous calls required. As opposed to traditional VoIP technologies, the 3CX system is right-sized for your call volume, not based on the number of end-points/extensions. The following table provides a concise overview of the pricing differences between 3CX Professional and Enterprise packages:

Real 3CX Example: 16 Extensions, Lower Monthly Cost
Here is a real-world example of how 3CX pricing can differ from traditional hosted phone service pricing. This customer had 16 extensions, 2 toll-free numbers, 3 DIDs, and eFax with their previous provider.
After moving to Fidalia’s hosted 3CX Professional solution, they kept the core functionality they needed and reduced their monthly pre-tax phone system spend from $348.10 to $280.85.

The Situation
A small Ajax, Ontario business was paying $348.10 per month before tax for its existing hosted phone system. Their monthly bill included:
Their GoCo by TELUS invoice showed $346.80 in monthly recurring charges plus $1.30 in usage charges, for a pre-tax total of $348.10.
| Existing Service Component | Included |
|---|---|
| Standard extensions | 12 |
| Premium extensions | 4 |
| Digital voice lines | 5 |
| Toll-free numbers | 2 |
| Direct inward dial numbers | 3 |
| eFax | 1 |
| Auto attendant | 1 |
| Long-distance bundle | 5,000 Canada/US minutes |
| Usage Metric | Actual Usage |
|---|---|
| Total calls | 107 |
| Total call duration | 3h 55m 30s |
| Usage charges | $1.30 |
| Users/extensions with visible call activity | 6 accounts plus toll-free/fax activity |
| Users over 10 minutes of usage | 3 |
The Usage Reality
The customer had a 16-extension phone system, but their actual calling activity was modest. The invoice also showed that several assigned users/extensions did not appear in the usage summary at all, meaning the customer was paying for seats or extension packages that saw little to no calling activity during the month.
The Problem
The customer was paying like a traditional per-user phone system customer, but their actual usage looked more like a shared-capacity business phone environment.
Many hosted phone services price around users, extensions, premium extension types, line packages, auto attendants, and add-on features. This can be fine when every user is an active phone user, but it becomes expensive when many extensions exist for reachability, departments, shared phones, warehouse phones, front-door phones, or occasional users.
In this case, the customer needed a capable business phone system, but they did not need to keep paying traditional per-extension economics for light monthly call volume.
The Shared-Capacity Phone System
The Fidalia 3CX Configuration
Fidalia moved the customer to 3CX Professional, configured around the business’s actual calling requirements rather than simply replicating the old per-user billing model.
The new Fidalia phone system included:
| Fidalia 3CX Component | Included |
|---|---|
| 3CX Professional license | 8SC Pro |
| SIP channels | 8 |
| Toll-free numbers | 2 |
| Direct inward dial numbers | 4 |
| eFax | Included |
| Hosting | Fidalia-hosted |
| Phone system management | Fidalia-supported |
| Phone System | Monthly Pre-Tax Cost |
|---|---|
| Previous GoCo phone system | $348.10 |
| Fidalia 3CX Professional solution | $280.85 |
| Monthly savings | $67.25 |
| Annualized savings | $807.00 |
| Percentage reduction | 19.3% |
Monthly Cost Comparison
By moving to Fidalia’s 3CX-based phone system, the customer reduced their monthly pre-tax spend by $67.25, or roughly 19%, while retaining the phone numbers, toll-free numbers, eFax, hosting, and business phone system functionality they needed.
Why Fidalia and 3CX Were a Better Fit
The key difference between the two phone systems was licensing structure.
With 3CX, businesses do not need to buy a separate paid phone system license for every individual extension in the same way many hosted phone services are packaged. Instead, 3CX is licensed around simultaneous calls, which can be a better fit for organizations where many employees or devices need extensions, but only a smaller number of calls happen at the same time.
For this customer, that distinction was important. They had 16 extensions, but the invoice showed only 3 hours and 55 minutes of total usage across 107 calls for the month. (And some of those calls included receiving faxes!)
A simultaneous-call model better reflected how the business actually used the phone system.
Frequently Asked Questions about 3CX Licensing
What is a 3CX SC (Simultaneous Call)?
SC stands for Simultaneous Call. 3CX licenses are based on how many calls your system can handle at one time, not on the number of users or extensions.
Can I upgrade my 3CX license later?
Yes. You can upgrade your 3CX license at any time by paying the difference in price. Upgrades do not reset your license term.
Do I need to renew my license every year?
Yes. All 3CX licenses sold by Fidalia are annual subscriptions. You’ll need to renew each year to continue receiving updates and support.
What’s the difference between Professional and Enterprise licenses?
Professional includes core PBX features as well as call queues, CRM integration, and reporting. Enterprise includes everything in Pro plus skills-based routing, inbuilt failover, and Teams integration.
Is installation support included with my license purchase?
No. The license cost covers the software only. Installation and setup support can be purchased separately from Fidalia.
